What does the NHS survey mean to me? #physiotalk Mon 18th March

Our next monthly #physiotalk tweetchat will be on Monday 18th March at 8pm GMT. The topic this month will be on the recently released NHS survey – have you read it yet?

NHS England runs a yearly staff survey (See https://www.nhsstaffsurveys.com/ for details) and the results have just been published. Of course other devolved nations also have similar surveys – such as the NHS Scotland iMatter report (https://www.imatter.scot/media/2112/health-and-social-care-staff-experience-survey-2023.pdf) or the NHS Wales staff survey (https://heiw.nhs.wales/nhs-wales-staff-survey/) but these are reported in slightly different ways.

The NHS England survey shows that AHPs were the second largest staff grouping to participate in the survey – so a voice that can be heard!

There are some striking results:

Only 31% are satisfied with pay and only 45% of respondents are satisfied with the extent to which their organisation values their work. If staff needed to speak up about concerns only half are confident that their organisation would address their concern. A third of respondents felt burnt out as a result of their work.

The CSP has presented some physiotherapy specific results (https://www.csp.org.uk/news/2024-03-07-nhs-staff-survey-2023-need-challenge-poor-staff-experiences-greater-ever) which highlight issues in staffing levels, staff experience and working flexibly.

But the question is – are you going to use the results to campaign for improvements in your workplace?
