The choice of this weeks #physiotalk tweetchat topic was an easy one – as Osteoarthritis (OA) is the theme of this year World Physiotherapy Day on 8th September. So we will be a little after the day – but not by much! Join us at 8pm BST on Monday 12th September.
We welcome ALL to take part – whether in the UK or further afield. We would love to see more #GlobalPT take part as increasing participants diversity makes for a great debate and discussion.
The posters produced as part of #WorldPTDay emphasise that exercise and specifically exercise first is an important message for people living with OA.

World Physiotherapy have also produced a series of infographics and it is two of these we are going to focus on for Monday nights chat. The first is on myths around OA – and how we can best get the right messages out to people living with arthritis. The second is more specifically on running and OA – and again busting some of the common myths around running and joint issues.
Chat questions
How do we change the message away from OA being ‘wear and tear’?
Is there any exercise that will damage a joint?
How do we teach younger people with joint injuries to reduce their risk of developing OA
Running and OA – can you ever run too much?
What are your ‘go to’ adaptations for running with OA?
Do the type of shoes you wear to run really matter?
