Across the UK physiotherapists and other health care professionals have been immersed in negotiations around pay. Some of the 4 nations have agreed their pay offers, whereas staff in England will have the opportunity to have their say on the current pay offer when the CSP consultation opens tomorrow, Wednesday 29th March.
So we thought it was a good time to host a #physiotalk tweetchat all about pay. Join us on Monday 3rd April at 8pm BST to discuss all about NHS pay across the home nations.
So – what is happening about pay? The CSP have been a great source of information, so rather than paraphrase their information, we will just direct you to their page about the pay negotiations, consultations and offers – NHS pay across the UK

On 3rd April we want to know your thoughts about pay – no matter where in the UK you live.
So whether you are in England and are part of the current consultation, in Scotland or Wales and have agreed the pay offer, or in Northern Ireland where the pay has been announced but award is still being disputed, we want to hear from you!!
Our questions will focus on whether you feel the new pay offer offers a fair rate for the work that you do as well as look to see whether the pay scales might affect recruitment where you work.
Chat questions
- If you are in England, will you be accepting the current offer?
- In Scotland / Wales / NI – are you happy your offer was agreed?
- Do you think your pay is fair for the work you do?
- Is NHS pay comparable to the private sector?
- Are you thinking of leaving the NHS due to concerns with pay rates?
- Would you consider moving within the UK to get a better pay deal?
Pay scales
Wales and Northern Ireland have not announced the 2023/24 pay scales as yet, but to allow some comparison, the top of some pay scales in England and Scotland for the 2023/2024 offers are shown below. Remember there are differences in tax rates in Scotland, so a direct comparison cannot be made, but the pay scales are still offering a better pay in Scotland overall.
