Supporting new graduates #physiotalk Mon 29th August 8pm

Our next chat is on Monday 29th August at 8pm BST. Yes – we know it is a bank holiday for many people, but we would love it if you could spare an hour to chat about this important topic.

Over that last couple of months hundreds of new physiotherapists will have started their first physiotherapy jobs across the country.  Being a newly qualified physiotherapist can be both an exciting and daunting time, and the support of peers, colleagues and managers is so essential for supporting professional development, confidence and competency, as well as promoting safe and effective patient care.

And these new graduates have had such a different journey towards registration with the impact over most of their degree of pandemic restrictions. They are the third cohort of students to graduate since the pandemic began, and for those on a three year degree most of their student life has been under the constraints of a ‘COVID education’.

Now, as they move into the world of work, how will this impact on them as they take on their new roles.

Questions to think about before the chat:

  • What are the best ways for new graduate physiotherapists to prepare for their new role?
  • How can you make the most of the first few weeks?
  • What are the biggest challenges for this ‘COVID’ class of graduates?
  • What support is most important for any new graduates?
  • What opportunities are out there for support, CPD and career development, and how to make the most of opportunities right from the start?
