Right to rehab #physiotalk Mon 23rd October 8pm BST

The next #physiotalk tweetchat will be on Monday 23rd October at 8pm BST. The chat will focus on the ‘right to rehab’

Rehabilitation is a vital part of physiotherapy that helps people with long-term conditions, injuries or illnesses to recover their health and function, and live as independently as possible. It can include services such as exercise, education, self-management, equipment, and psychological support.

However, not everyone who needs rehabilitation can access it. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) has found that there are significant gaps and variations in the provision and quality of rehabilitation across the UK. This means that many people are missing out on the benefits of rehabilitation, such as improved quality of life, reduced disability, and lower risk of complications.

The CSP is calling for a ‘right to rehabilitation’ for everyone who needs it, regardless of their condition, age, location or background. This would ensure that people have timely access to high quality, person-centred community rehabilitation services that respond to their needs and preferences. It would also require adequate investment, coordination, data and workforce in rehabilitation to meet the demand and standards.
